Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, 50, has reached out to her former colleague Bill Turnbull, 65, after he announced that he was stepping back from his hosting responsibilities on Classic FM earlier this week. Taking to social media, the ITV star penned a heartfelt message to her former BBC Breakfast colleague after he confirmed that he was taking time away from his radio show due to “health reasons”.
Sending love and strength
In view of her 834,900 Twitter followers, Susanna host wished the Classic FM presenter well.
She wrote: “You make us feel blessed. Get well soon.
“Sending love and strength,” Susanna added as she ended the post alongside a red heart emoji.
The GMB star’s post comes a day after Bill announced that he had decided to take time away from his Classic FM show.
Two days ago the radio presenter confirmed that he was stepping back from his programme as he needed to focus on his health.
Bill told his 107,400 followers: “1) With great regret I am taking a leave of absence from my show @classicfm, for health reasons.
“The road has been a bit bumpy recently, and I need to take some time to focus on getting better.”
In a new tweet, Bill apologised to his fans and thanked them for their support.
He continued: “2) I’m sorry to do this, as I absolutely love doing the programme, and have hugely enjoyed the past five years.
“I am very grateful to friends and colleagues @global for the love and support they have shown me.”
However, the Classic FM host promised that he’ll return to his presenting responsibilities as soon as possible.
“And I will be back, just as soon as I can be,” he said.
Two days after the announcement, Bill returned to the micro-blogging site to thank fans for their support following the news.
He penned: “Thank you to all who’ve sent love on Twitter over the past day or so.
“Your support is healing in itself. You make me feel blessed.”
Bill’s announcement comes three years after he revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In March 2019 the star shared his story of dealing with advanced prostate cancer in a Channel 4 documentary called Staying Alive.
The radio star has undergone numerous rounds of chemotherapy and has received injections of radioactive substance radium 223.
Bill previously told how the cancer has spread to his bones but in late 2019 the father of three said he had a “fair old time to live”.
Bill and Susanna co-hosted BBC Breakfast together between 2013 and 2014. The radio star joined Susanna as a guest presenter on GMB while Piers Morgan was away in 2020 and then again earlier this year.
