Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz has announced she’s pregnant with her first child in an interview with People magazine.
Stephanie, who plays Rosa Diaz in the comedy show, is expecting a child with her husband Brad Hoss.
The 40-year-old actress previously came out as bisexual when she was at college and admitted she didn’t see children in her future until she met husband Brad.
Stephanie told People: “I didn't think that a committed partnership was really for me. I couldn't really see kids. It wasn't that I was closed off to it. It was more that I couldn't quite see how a baby fit into the life that I was building.”
However, her feelings surrounding children changed when she met her husband Brad.
They got engaged in 2017 and married a year later in 2018.
She said that her marriage didn’t mean she was any “less queer” but explained that she was “able to be my fullest, most authentic self around Brad” because he’s “extremely empathetic and open.”
Stephanie went on to tell the publication that her and Brad will raise their child to believe in equality.
She said: “I think one of the best things you can do is raise a kid who understands that however a person chooses to shape their one glorious life is worthy of celebration.”
