Chrissy Teigen and more Twitter users, both celebrity and non-celebrity alike, are tearing into Kid Rock over his comments about Taylor Swift.
The singer, born Robert James Ritchie, tweeted a crude message Friday that questioned Swift’s motivations for getting political.
“Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period,” he tweeted “And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”
The tweet, which has garnered over 55,000 replies, 30,000 retweets and over 131,000 likes, has rocked the social media site. It has also sparked reactions from celebrities like Chrissy Teigen, who quote tweeted Rock’s words with her own message.
“you’re pathetic. – Chrissy Teigen,” she wrote, mimicking Rock’s tweet sign-off.

Sheryl Crow also shared Rock’s tweet, adding an alternative message: “Spread love. Not hate. End of subject.”
Patricia Arquette replied to Rock’s tweet, writing, “Somehow that tweet was both gross and boring.”
Musician Benmont Tench also replied to Rock’s tweet, writing, “That’s an awful thing to say.”
Others were also quick to call out the tweet as being out-dated and misogynistic.
“Hey Kid – The 50’s called – they want their sexist, outdated thinking back,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Misogyny at its finest,” another replied.
Rock’s tweet comes in the wake of a rare interview Swift granted with Vogue that was published Thursday. In it, the 29-year-old talks about her decision to speak out on LGBTQ rights, sexism in entertainment and her $113,000 donation to the Tennessee Equality Project.
“They don’t call it ‘Slate of Hate’ for nothing,” Swift said, referencing several bills in the 2019 state legislature that received backlash from community leaders.
Last year, Swift broke her political silence to voice her support for Phil Bredesen, Tennessee’s Democratic candidate for Senate, and denounce his Republican opponent, Marsha Blackburn.
