Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot recently opened up about the comments that left her “shocked” on the set of Justice League. The star openly accused screenwriter Joss Whedon of making “threatening” comments towards her, which left her “shaking trees as soon as it happened”.

The Israeli film star, 36, gave a candid interview where she discussed her strong feelings on righteousness and the importance of standing up for what she believes in.

She went on to detail the “mistreatment” that she claims she was subjected to whilst shooting in 2017, which starred her character Wonder Woman alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

On Israeli TV in May Gal alleged that famous screenwriter Joss had left her feeling angry and determined to seek justice.

She said: “(Joss Whedon) kind of threatened my career and said if I did something, he would make my career miserable.”

Gal’s story corroborates with one from the Hollywood Reporter, which claimed he had verbally abused the actress when she voiced concerns about her character and dialogue.

Joss’ remarks have never been made public and he declined to comment when the story originally came out.

This is not the first time the screenwriter has been accused of inappropriate behaviour on set, however, as Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg in Justice League, also spoke out against Joss.

In July 2020 the actor accused him of “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” conduct in a tweet that also called out producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg for “enabling” him.

Two weeks ago Gal addressed her turbulent time on the set once more in an interview with Elle.

Speaking about the incident, she said: “Oh, I was shaking trees as soon as it happened.

“And I must say that the heads of Warner Brothers, they took care of it….

“Going back to the sense of righteousness that I have…you’re dizzy because you can’t believe this was just said to you. And if he says it to me, then obviously he says it to many other people.”

She went on to question whether she would have received the same treatment if she was a man and admitted that she was “shocked” by the screenwriter’s alleged comments.

“I just did what I felt like I had to do. And it was to tell people that it’s not okay.

“I would’ve done the same thing, I think, if I was a man. Would he tell me what he told me had I been a man? I don’t know. We’ll never know. But my sense of justice is very strong.

“I was shocked by the way that he spoke to me. But whatever, it’s done. Water under the bridge.”

Gal recently told Variety that director Patty Jenkins and her team were “working on a script” for Wonder Woman 3, although no details about the plot have yet been revealed.

The Hollywood star is also set to play the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White, which will star Rachel Zegler as the titular character.

Gal will also discuss her new role in action caper Red Notice via video link on The Jonathan Ross Show tonight at 9:30pm on ITV.

The actress will appear alongside co-stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Michael McIntyre and Ed Sheeran will also make an appearance to perform music from his new album.

Express.co.uk have contacted Joss Whedon for further comment.
