She only revealed her pregnancy at the start of July, but Orange Is The New Black’s Danielle Brooks looked like an absolute glowing goddess as she showed off her growing baby bump at the show’s season seven premiere.
Danielle, who plays Tasha ‘Taystee’ Jefferson in the hit prison drama, looked worlds away from her incarcerated character as she traded her prison jumpsuit for a glamorous sequinned gown and a massive statement hat.
She stepped out at the Orange Is The New Black premiere in New York on Thursday, posing with her co-star Uzo Aduba – who plays Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren – as she cradled her bump.
Danielle is thought to be around six months in to her pregnancy, after she confirmed the news on Instagram at the start of July.
She held up a pregnancy test in the photo as she told her followers: ‘So elated to finally share this news with you all. I’m happily pregnant!’
The actor likes to keep her relationships and private life under wraps, but has shared a few photos of her partner, known only as ‘D’ on her Instagram page in the past.
Danielle has played Taystee on the Netflix show since the first season in 2013, when her character was initially supposed to star in just two episodes.
She impressed producers so much they wrote her character into the rest of the first season and all seven series of the show.
Season seven of Orange Is The New Black, the final series of the show, dropped on Netflix today and follows lead character Piper Chapman’s life since her release as well as the other prisoners’ fates following the dramatic ending of season six.
Despite the show coming to an end, it’s the start of some amazing new beginnings for Danielle who is looking forward to becoming a mother.
She posted: ‘I remember my first premiere like it was yesterday. My dress zipper popped and my friend found a seamstress in the final hour to fix my dress.
‘I was freaking out about being late, and my dad, and two of my best friends were by my side that night. It was my first carpet EVER and my teeth wouldn’t stop chattering because I was sooo nervous.
‘All these pictures hold a story but the photos I take tonight will mean the most, as I share them with the people who have become my family and with carrying the little Debbie cake inside this Taystee oven.
‘It’s the end of an era, and the beginning of so much more. Thank you to all the fans who have been supporting us from Day 1 and all who have jumped on board season after season.’
