Queen banned photos during first meeting with great-granddaughter Lilibet

The Queen reportedly banned cameras from capturing her first meeting with great-granddaughter Lilibet.

On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a brand new official picture of their baby daughter Lilibet as they reflected on the little girl's first birthday.

And it has now been revealed that the 96 year old monarch met the adorable youngster for the first time on Thursday – the first day of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

However, according to The Sun, Her Majesty, who paid a touching tribute to her late husband Prince Philip, said "no" to a private photographer being present for her meeting with little Lilibet.

The Queen was reportedly keen for the interaction to stay a "private family meeting".

Meanwhile, Lilibet was adorable as she grinned in the snap shared by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Appearing to have so many similarities to her dad, the little girl sported a head full of strawberry-blonde hair and wore a gorgeous light blue and white dress.

Meghan posed in a second black and white photo with her daughter in her arms alongside a series of pals for her birthday party.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said they celebrated their daughter's first birthday with a "casual intimate backyard picnic".

The couple invited a small group of close family and friends for the 'do.

The spokesperson also said Harry and Meghan were "incredibly touched" by the well-wishes they'd received for their daughter's first birthday.

As well as some food and drink, Lilibet also had a special birthday cake made and decorated for her by Royal baker Claire Ptak.

Joining other members of the Royal Family, the Queen shared sweet messages for Lilibet's first birthday.

The Queen tweeted on The Royal Family account: "Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!"

Harry and Meghan have kept their daughter's life incredibly private since her birth, only showing the first photograph of her in their 2022 Christmas card.

The new photo of Lilibet was released upon the family's return to the US after arriving in the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Harry and Meghan's only official appearance came as the couple attended the Thanksgiving Service for the monarch at St Paul's Cathedral on Friday.

They were also spotted enjoying the festivities at Trooping the Colour behind the scenes in Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
