AJ Pritchard, 27, has spilled the beans on this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, set at Gwrych Castle. The ITV show is set in the Wales castle for the second year in a row after travel restrictions have prevented the show from taking place in its usual location of Australia.

Quite DIY I felt.

AJ Pritchard

Former Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ took part in last year’s series which saw the first stars to enter the castle in North Wales for the show.

This year, the celebrities returned to the camp. They were briefly evacuated amid Storm Arwen before moving back in.

AJ appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning to share what he thinks of this year’s series.

Speaking to Susanna Reid and Ben Shepherd, he revealed they were told it would not be cold in the castle, but when he walked through the door he said it was “freezing”.

He continued: “Yeah, everything I literally as you see it so you chop your wood, you keep warm.

“The warm shower, if you keep the boiler going, is there so that is always a godsend – until it breaks because we went in the first year and a lot of things were quite DIY I felt.

“But, thankfully, they put a door in-between where the fire pit is and the bedroom so we stopped the drought a couple days in. But, it is as you see it.

“It is freezing, two pairs of socks is not enough. And even when you’re in your sleeping bag it’s still very nippy so it goes to minus. You can’t do much about that.”

AJ’s series was won by Giovanna Fletcher, with Radio 1 DJ Jordan North taking second place.

Giovanna won the show with 50.27 per cent of the vote, making it the closest ever percentage between two final campmates.

Other stars on the show included Shane Richie, Mo Farah, Jessica Plummer and Victoria Derbyshire.

Whilst on the show, AJ had plenty of tense moments with the ex EastEnders actor Shane, with the pair arguing over pot washing duties.

It started when AJ took Shane to task for not cleaning up the pots and pans properly the previous night, meaning the campmate had nothing to eat the following morning.

Shane argued that there was no hot water to do the washing up, but AJ pointed out that they needed the pans to boil anything in the first place.

Tensions grew between the pair a couple of days later when AJ was assigned to pot washing duties, with Shane throwing his dinner on the floor to prove a point.

He said: “There you go. How do you like them apples?”

Speaking at the time on the podcast he does with his brother Curtis Pritchard, he said: “Curt, if you don’t stand your ground in those situations people are just gonna walk over you.

“I may be small, but I’m still going to give my opinion.”

At the time on This Morning Shane revealed that the whole situation was blown way out of proportion, telling Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield that there was no tension between them.
