Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, 50, has taken to social media to light-heartedly address a “battle” between herself and former colleague Piers Morgan, 56. The star’s tweet comes as the nominees for this year’s Television and Radio Industries Club awards have been announced, with the GMB presenter going head to head with both the Life Stories host and BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.

“Look who’s battling it out as TRIC Award nominees are announced…” she wrote above a picture of the outspoken media personality.
This year’s awards sees 18 TV and radio awards up for grabs, as some of the biggest showbiz personalities go head to head for nominations.
The 2021 TRIC Awards are set to take place at a star-studded central London location on September 15 and celebrate the 52nd year of the event.
Over 250 guests will be invited to watch the event and for the first time, fans will be able to watch the awards over a free live stream.
This year’s red-carpet event will take place at the prestigious 8 Northumberland Avenue behind Trafalgar Square.
Ahead of the evening, members of the public are encouraged to vote for their favourite industry personalities, with the shortlist containing the biggest names in showbiz.
On the night, stars such as Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer, Saturday Night Takeaway duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly and Loose Women’s Alison Hammond will all be in attendance.
This year’s News Presenter award sees ITV hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid go up against each other, as well as BBC newsreader Huw Edwards being shortlisted.
Addressing the nomination of the ITV personalities, fans of the hosts took to the comments to weigh in on the awards.
One wrote: “I’d be voting for you..you’ve steered a very heavy ship through a storm in recent months so deserve it..he was the storm obviously!”
Another penned: “No contest Susanna. You have flourished now you are not spoken over by Piers!” (sic)
While a third commented: “Sincerely hope that it’s you announced as the winner, you deserve it.”
Others claimed that the Life Stories presenter didn’t deserve an award after his very public rant about Meghan Markle earlier this year.
They commented: “Somebody who behaved as he did in his behaviour towards Harry and Meghan, does not deserve an award.”
However, one social media user said that Piers is deserving of the award.
“Should go to Piers Morgan, as GMB has bombed since he went!” they penned.
Elsewhere in the nominations, the Reality show category sees I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! go up against The Masked Singer and Strictly Come Dancing.
For the category of TV personality, The Chase’s Bradley Walsh goes head to head with ITV’s Alison Hammond and duo Ant and Dec.
Whilst soap of the year is split four ways between Casualty, Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale.
