Teyana Taylor has confirmed that she is retiring from music.
The 29-year-old singer announced her premature exit from the field citing a number of reasons, including being “under appreciated as an artist,” “receiving little to no real push from the “machine,” “constantly getting the shorter end of the stick,” and “being overlooked.”
“I’m retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that i can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put in was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world,” she wrote on Instagram.
“To all my supporters from day 1 & all my new ones I love you and I thank you for everything & don’t worry y’all know all hustlers have the understanding that when one door closes another will open…either that or I’m pickin da locks petunia,” she added.
Her social media post was accompanied by a screenshot of her outstanding Spotify “2020 Artist Wrapped” statistics. It says her music had been streamed 162.8 million times on the platform, for 8.4 million hours, heard by 15. 2 million fans across 92 countries.
A model and dancer, Taylor is married o NBA star Iman Shumpert and has two children.
