47-year-old Olivia Colman, who plays the role of a killer in Landscapers, spoke out on mixing work with her marriage during the filming of tonight’s episode of The Graham Norton Show. It was Olivia’s husband, Ed Sinclair, that had written the script for Landscapers, which is based on the true story of a murderous couple on the run.

However, according to Olivia, she would rather be served up a cup of vomit than talk to him about work.

“We now know that I do my thing and he does his, and we are not allowed to talk about it,” she told Graham on the show.

“He tried to give me a note once which went down like a cup of cold sick!”

However, that doesn’t mean she’d ever have considered saying no to collaborating with her beau.

“No, can you imagine if I’d said no to Ed’s six years of work?” she queried.

“I really wanted to do it and would have kicked up a storm if it had gone to anyone else.”

Research for the film proved gruelling, however.

Susan and Christopher Edwards, the real-life murderers that the story was based on, were convicted in 2014.

The pair had murdered both of Susan’s parents, buried their bodies in the back garden and had gone 15 years without their crimes ever having been detected.

The four part drama, which is set to screen on Sky Atlantic, brings the vicious crimes to life.

However, to perfect the characters’ portrayals, Ed made the ultimate sacrifice for his art, giving up his privacy to speak to the murderers themselves.

Olivia explained that the criminals ended up knowing her and her husband’s home address.

“Ed got to know them by writing to them,” Olivia revealed.

“It was odd knowing that double murderers knew our home address!”

Olivia also spoke on the show about her new film The Lost Daughter, which was filmed in Greece.

The movie was written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who debuted as a feature director for the very first time, and also starred Dakota Johnson.

It revisits the unconventional choices of a holiday-maker who is triggered by a woman and her daughter on the beach to recall her memories of early motherhood, and will be released on Netflix.

“The whole island was a bubble,” Olivia recalled of the filming period during the pandemic, “so we had an amazing time when the world was having a terrible one”.

She confessed: “It was heaven.”

Catch Olivia on The Graham Norton Show tonight at 10:35pm on BBC One.
