Black Market COMME des GARÇONs Arrives At DSM London

COMME des GARÇONS‘s Black Market has arrived at Dover Street Market in London following its irregular sightings in Harajuku last November. Given the reported success of the previous Black Market CDG pop-ups, its latest location, accompanied by a special installation, is expected to draw crowds.

The series inspired by black markets in Japans during wartimes includes everyday wear and gadgets to reflect the daily necessities sold discreetly back in the days due to restrictions posed by the food-control management. Brands featured among the CDG archival items and CDG-customized products rendered in black are A Bathing Ape, Casio, Disney, Gucci, Lewis Leathers, Play CDG, Stüssy, The Cambridge Satchel Co, Vans, Westfall, and Wolf’s Head. Furniture designed by CDG’s founder Rei Kawakubo is also displayed.

Some standout pieces include reworked Lewis Leathers x Wolf’s Head leather goods priced at ¥253,000 to ¥1.31 million JPY (approx. $2,100 to $8,600 USD), a Gucci PVC bag priced at ¥55,000 (approx. $470 USD), and deadstock military outerwear by ALPHA INDUSTRIES priced at ¥35,200 to ¥52,800 JPY (approx. $300 to $450 USD). The exclusive range also takes in popular streetwear names like A Bathing Ape and Stüssy hoodies. Closing the vast array of items is an all-black G-SHOCK watch with “COMME des GARÇONS” printed on the strap priced at ¥26,400 JPY (approx. $300 USD) and a wooden chair designed by Rei Kawakubo priced at ¥385,000 (approx. $3,300 USD).
