NASA leaves Tina Turner fans in tears up with 'spectacular' tribute to legend

Tributs have been pouring in following the death of Tina Turner, who’s died at the age of 83 after a long illness.

With celebrities including Mick Jagger, Gloria Gaynor and Naomi Campbell honouring the late Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, NASA also paid homage to the late icon.

However, fans of the What’s Love Got To Do With It singer might not have expected a tweet from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to have moved them as much as it did.

Sharing a stunning photograph taken of a myriad of stars, the tweet read: ‘Simply the best. Music legend Tina Turner sparkled across the stage and into millions of hearts as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Her legacy will forever live among the stars.’

It wasn’t just the initial message that moved some fans to tears, but also the alt text for the image, which is used to describe an image and can be read aloud for people who have visual impairment.

The alt text read: ‘Closeup of a cluster of tightly-packed stars as seen by the Hubble Space Telescope. The sparkles are reminiscent of Tina Turner’s sparkly dresses she would wear on stage. The center of the cluster has the most stars, where most are blue and white. Red and orange stars are found farther from the center.’

The couple separated after Ike became abusive to Turner, and she went on to experience a huge resurgence in her solo career from the 1980s.
