Phillip Schofield gulped whiskey with the young lover he admitted to having an affair with on a resurfaced This Morning segment.

The former Dancing On Ice presenter, 61, quit ITV with ‘immediate effect’ after confessing to having an ‘unwise’ but ‘not illegal’ relationship with the man, who worked as a runner on the daytime show.

In a 2016 clip from the show, which Schofield formerly presented alongside Holly Willoughby, 42, the runner dressed up as an elf for a Christmas segment and appeared in the background.

Schofield and Willoughby, meanwhile, were sampling a range of whiskeys from an advent calendar, including a bottle that cost £1,000.

Taking a sip of the booze, the former The Cube host remarked it was ‘smooth’ before offering it to the runner.

Turning to the man, Schofield fed him the whiskey and commented: ‘Let’s get the elf smashed.’

The runner took a gulp, nodded his head and stuck his thumbs up in approval, prompting Schofield to burst into laughter.

It comes after the Daily Mail reported the man was ‘paid off’ by ITV at the end of his relationship with the former presenter.

The man had been moved from This Morning to Loose Women after his relationship with Schofield reportedly soured.

According to the outlet, sources have claimed the runner was given a financial settlement from the broadcaster, which ITV has reportedly refused on numerous occasions to comment on or deny.

In a bombshell interview with GB News, Eamonn Holmes claimed the runner did not ask for the  ‘promotion’ to Loose Women and called for the ‘unprecedented’ new role to be investigated, particularly ‘who authorised it.’

He also claimed he heard from a reliable source that the runner would arrive via taxi from Schofield’s home on Friday mornings after they went out on Thursday nights.

Holmes went on to claim the young man was ‘in a bad way’ and he and Holmes’ wife Ruth Langsford kept an eye on him, but he ‘never admitted’ any sort of relationship with Schofield but he would ‘phone often’ for ‘comfort’.

Since the revelation was made public, Schofield was dropped by his agents of 35 years and, more recently, The Prince’s Trust.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Schofield’s lawyer and ITV for comment.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
