The Levi’s X Jaden Smith Capsule Is an Ode to DIY Customization

For the Fall/Winter 2021 season, Levi’s has tapped Jaden Smith for a limited-edition capsule collection.

The two entities have worked together on several projects over the past couple of years, but this new collection marks the first collection designed by Smith himself. The California-born rapper and actor put his distinct taste in printed graphics on Levi’s signature 501 jeans and Type III Trucker jacket. Placed across the jeans and the jacket’s front and back, the designs include peace signs, an anatomical ribcage print and the phrase “Artificial Laser Focus Group” in black. The designs are inspired by custom screen printing Smith does in his garage and serve as an ode to DIY customization.

“I had a lot of fun working on this collection,” says Jaden Smith about his inspiration behind the Artificial Laser Focus Group graphic. “It embodies my desire to cut through a room with bright light, like a laser.”

This past September, Smith’s MSFTSrep released its eclectic tailoring-focused collection for the FW21 season named “Untitled.” Symbolizing organized youth rebellion, the collection blended the aesthetics of tailoring, streetwear and workwear with its three key looks: a tailored suit, a snowsuit set and a hoodie dress.

The Levi’s x Jaden Smith capsule collection releases Monday, December 13 exclusively on the Levi’s app.
