You know an optical illusion is particularly good if it gets people wound up enough to argue.
Now one "trippy" example is having exactly that effect.
At first glance, the image looks like a beach or shoreline under a moody sky. Apparently, if this what you perceive it to be, then you're an artist.
In actual fact, the photo shows a broken car door.
So what do you see?
After being shared on Twitter , the majority of people said they saw a stormy beach scene. The caption even read: "If you can see a beach, ocean sky, rocks and stars then you are an artist.
"But it’s not a painting its lower part of the car gate which needs to be repaired. [sic]"
So convincing is the image that even when it was revealed to be a car door, people still had trouble seeing it as that.
After being later shared on Reddit , one person added: "I can still see the beach. I can see the car if I want, but the beach is better."
There is an explanation as to why it's so hard to see the image for what it really is – it's called 'confirmation bias'.
