Boots No7 launches free virtual ‘cancer confidence’ beauty service with Macmillan

Living with cancer is tough at any time, but lockdown is adding even more challenges for women fighting the illness and going through treatment.

Research from Macmillan has found a fifth of UK women affected by cancer feel less feminine and a sixth have sore or itchy skin. However, being on the shielding list makes it far harder to access beauty products and advice that might help boost confidence — until now.

Boots No7 has now partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support to launch a free virtual beauty service to give cancer patients a much-needed lift, without any need to step outside and risk their health.

Each virtual appointment is run by a specially trained No7 Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisor, who can provide personalised expert skincare and make-up advice to help manage the visible side effects of cancer.

Women will be offered everything from tailored product recommendations, to make-up application tips and tutorials, all from the comfort of their own home.

No7 believes beauty has a big role to play in combating both the physical and psychological effects of cancer treatment.

Its research found 43% of women working from home wear make-up in their “office” because it helps to boost their mental health. 54% feel more positive when they get ready for a day working from home by doing things like a skincare routine.

Women can book an appointments with the new service here and slots are running between 10am and 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sunday. The advice can be given either via video or telephone call, and each appointment lasts 15-20 minutes.

It’s the latest addition to a host of other free virtual services now on offer for all customers from Boots, which includes sessions on make-up, skin care, eye defining cosmetics and brow shaping.

Sounds like a brilliant initiative to us.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a boost, or want to treat someone special in your life, we’ve picked out five confidence-boosting products by No7 that are bound to brighten up your life and your skin.
