Brits are putting up their Christmas trees early to cheer themselves up

2020 has been a year like no other.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve been cooped up at home for most of the year.

And as parts of the country are facing tighter lockdown restrictions, Brits have decided to take action.

In a bid to spread some cheer, many have put their Christmas trees up early a couple of months early.

One Twitter user shared a picture of their white-coloured festive fir, which they decorated with vibrant blue lights.

They accompanied the image with the message: “Just put up our Christmas tree!”

Another Twitter user went all out with the festive decs.

They decorated their tree with baubles, snowflakes and sparkly ribbon.

Next, they hung silver stockings on the wall and placed reindeer figures on the floor.

They received a very positive response from their friends, with one writing: “Omg it’s so pretty and festive.”

And another said: “It’s pretty! Ah – I can’t wait to put mine up.”

As social media users are seeing others putting up their trees early, many revealed they’re tempted to do the same.

One tweeted: “This year has been so weird that I’m tempted to put up my Christmas tree this week.”

Another said: “We may not survive 2020 so the Christmas Tree is going up today.”

And a third added: “Let me say this again: 2020 has no rules.

“Put. That. Christmas. Tree. Up. If. You. Want. To.

“We’ve been in 2020 for 6 years now. It won’t hurt anything.”

While many are pleased the Christmas spirit has come early, Scrooges think we should be waiting until December.

A Twitter user wrote: “Just witnessed my first Christmas tree being put up. 2020 has lost it.”

Another said: “Not hating but I will never be that person who puts their Christmas tree up before Halloween. I just can’t.”

And a third agreed: “Someone in my neighbourhood already put their Christmas tree up and I just want to gouge my eyes out.

“Can we please just get through Halloween first.”
