A woman has made a video demonstration of a "hack" for cooking fried eggs to completely avoid the chance of shells falling into the pan.
In the clip, uploaded by @ashdee44, she holds a sieve ladle above the hot pan and cracks the egg so it slips through the holes.
The runny white goes straight through the gaps but the yolk is left behind.
She then gently tips the yolk into the middle of the white as it starts to set, making it settle perfectly in the middle.
The clip was "liked" more than 23,000 times on the video-sharing app and dozens of people left comments, although they couldn’t agree on how helpful it was.
"I love that," gushed one fan in appreciation.
"Good way to separate it lol," commented another viewer.
But a critic said: "This is more complicated than the normal way."
"Another solution for a problem that doesn’t exist," moaned another.
The TikTok user said in the comments the hack was just an experiment and she would be sticking to just breaking the eggs straight into the pan in the future.

It's not the first time chefs have recommended using a sieve first, with one woman claiming it removes the "watery" bits from the eggs to make a scramble taste better.
Nigella Lawson is also said to always separate her eggs before poaching them to remove the stringy tendrils that can form.
It is also useful to know how to separate eggs for recipes that require it, such as meringues.
Meanwhile, another home chef swears by adding water to the pan to cook fried eggs and says it helps get the yolk cooked on top but runny inside.
