KFC giving away free hot chicken wings and fries to customers via app

Those lovely lot at KFC are giving fans a new year treat by gifting app customers free hot chicken wings, alongside other items on the menu.

A lot of people may be on a diet right now, but the fast food chain is making it even harder to resist it's tasty treats by saving people money with the freebies.

As well as hot chicken wings, customers can also choose to redeem free popcorn chicken, a side or a regular drink as part of the offer.

New KFC customers who download the brand's official app will automatically get given three stamps, which can be exchanged for a side or drink.

In order to get the freebie, you must download the app and register your name, email address and postcode.

You’ll then get an email to verify your account.

That's all you need to do in order to redeem your freebie immediately.

The three stamps gifted by the chain is the equivalent of two free hot chicken wings worth 99p, or a small popcorn chicken worth £1.99 and any side or a regular drink – both typically worth £1.29.

You just need to click on the “Free Side” button on the app when you’re in a branch of KFC and this will give you a QR code to be scanned at the cashier.

If you don't want to use your stamps immediately, you can also build up your collection by scanning your app’s code whenever you spend money at KFC.

You will need to use the stamps within six months though, otherwise they will expire.

KFC customers can earn stamps by spending more than £3 on each order, which will earn you one stamp.

If you spend more than £15 though, you will be given two stamps.

Those who were already registered to the app can still collect stamps, but sadly they won't receive the three stamps that new users automatically get on first signing up.

Customers can collect up to 11 stamps on the app – the more you collect, the higher the value of freebie you'll be able to redeem.

As well as the hot wings and small popcorn chicken for one to three stamps, you can also choose from regular fries, regular corn, regular gravy, regular beans, regular coleslaw, creamy mash, southern rice and a garden salad, which all typically cost £1.29.

Or you can go for cold drinks, such as Tango, 7Up, Sprite, and Pepsi, which are also typically worth £1.29.

Hot drinks can also be redeemed for one to three stamps, like a black Americano, a coffee latte and tea and hot chocolate (typically worth £1.79).

For four to seven stamps, you can choose a free snack and if you’ve collected eight to 11 stamps you can get £5 off your order.

KFC so far hasn't clarified what a 'free snack' is for the 4-7 stamps.

The new stamp system comes after KFC launched a massive January sale, which includes 50% off different menu items during certain weeks of the month.

To get these discounts, you’ll also need to download the KFC app, click on the offer you want to redeem and scan its code at the checkout.
