Man in his 20s gunned down in London in second fatal shooting in days

A man was shot dead in east London in the early hours of today.

The man, in his 20s, was gunned down in Leyton at roughly 3am.

Paramedics battled to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Scotland Yard said.

The victim is the second person to be fatally shot on the capital's streets this weekend.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Next of kin are yet to be informed. Formal identification has not taken place.

"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

"A second man, aged in his 20s, is being treated at an east London hospital for non-life threatening injuries."

A man in his 30s was gunned down in Wembley, north London, on 8pm on Friday.

The capital has been gripped by violence this weekend with stabbings and shootings.

A woman, in her 30s, and three girls all aged under 12 were attacked at a home in Palmers Green, in Enfield on Saturday afternoon.

Following intensive treatment at hospital the woman and two of the children are now in a non-life threatening condition.

An 11-year-old girl remains in a critical condition.

Two men were stabbed in Hounslow on Saturday afternoon – and one of them is fighting for his life.

Also, a man in his 20s was shot in Kensal Green, in Brent, close to Kensal Rise station on Saturday afternoon.
