Leah McSweeney is celebrating three months of sobriety.
The 37-year-old “Real Housewives of New York” star shared an Instagram post Sunday featuring a picture of her sobriety chip and a caption that read “it’s been a trippy 90 days.”
The Married to the Mob clothing company founder noted in the comments section of the post that, while she hasn’t smoked marijuana since becoming sober, “it’s not off the table for me cus I do see weed as medicinal. I’ve just not had a desire for it.”
McSweeny had been nine years sober, but six months before filming began on the current season of “RHONY” she began drinking again.
Throughout Season 12, McSweeney has been open about her journey with sobriety.
“Me and alcohol have a very weird relationship,” she said in the season premiere, explaining that she struggles with moderation. “I am someone who actually enjoys like, completely like, going crazy.”
McSweeney and her mother’s relationship took a sad turn after she confessed in an episode that she had begun drinking again.
“My mom, I told her that I did end up drinking,” she told her co-stars following a drunken night at Ramona Singer’s house. “Not the end of the world, [but] she wasn’t responding to my text messages after I told her, so when I called my dad I told him, ‘I’m trying to get in touch with mom, I can’t get in touch with her.’ And he’s like, ‘Mommy is like, really mad at you and she just doesn’t want to talk to you right now.’
“When you’ve had a nine-year period of not drinking and then decide to start doing it, obviously, rightly so, my mom is going to be worried,” she added. “For my mom, when she heard I’m drinking again, it’s just like a trigger to her. I definitely think that my mom still views me as that wild teenager. It’s very hard for her to accept me as a 37-year-old woman who’s got her s—t together.”
A rep for McSweeney didn’t immediately get back to us.
