“Queen Victoria” may have gone home on Monday night’s episode of “The Bachelor,” but one lucky contestant still got her Cinderella moment.
During a “fairytale” one-on-one date with Matt James, 29, Rachael Kirkconnell, 24, was treated to a designer shopping spree with celebrity stylist Ty Hunter.
“We just kind of played dress-up” Hunter told Page Six Style. “Everything, the way you saw it, it was real.”
The style expert, who spent decades working with Beyoncé on iconic looks like her 2015 Met Gala naked dress, said Kirkconnell was a dream to dress.
“It was a blessing because she fit everything like a glove. She just had a good energy and a good spirit about her that made it easy for me,” he explained.
Prior to quarantining for his appearance on the dating show, Hunter selected clothing without knowing who would score the coveted date.
“Believe it or not, the girls are kind of the same size range, but I didn’t know who [was on the date] until literally two or three days before,” he recalled. “It went from this huge list of all the girls, all their sizes, then got broken down.”
Ahead of serving as Kirkconnell’s fashion fairy godmother, Hunter called in looks from designer friends like Michael Costello and Rubin Singer.
In addition to sporting a red-hot mini from Costello’s Revolve collaboration ($191) and slipping on Christian Louboutin heels ($845), Kirkconnell tried on multiple looks from Singer during the date — including a corseted sequin number ($695), an off-the shoulder gown ($2,497) and a hand-embroidered dress ($395).
It was far from Hunter and Singer’s first time creating high-fashion moments together, as they previously collaborated on costumes for Beyoncé’s 2013 Super Bowl halftime performance.
“We had to give enough options and enough of a breadth,” Singer told us of the prep process, revealing that he gave Hunter free rein to select items from his archives and current collections.
“We kind of pulled together what he thought were the best looks for the task at hand and the kind of girls that we were dressing.”
And while the date may have looked like a fairytale, Kirkconnell’s sizable shopping haul was far from fiction. According to Hunter, she was gifted pieces from Costello’s Revolve collection, allowing her to return to the “Bachelor” mansion with a jealousy-inducing armful of bags.
While it remains to be seen if her fairytale date will lead to a happily ever after with James, Hunter observed “genuine passion” between the pair — even when cameras stopped rolling.
“In between takes they were really into each other,” he said. “I don’t know who won, but I do know that when I was there with the two of them, the chemistry was so strong — it was like, oh my god.”
Continued Hunter, “I just didn’t know it was this real. A lot of times when I think of reality shows you just don’t know, but to be a part of it and to really be in it … they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. They were very touchy-feely, and you could see the passion there.”
