The Crown watchers saw a Kate Middleton-lookalike on The Crown in a scene featuring Princess Diana. The Princess of Wales greeted crowds in the clip and a woman wearing a yellow jacket caught the eye for her uncanny resemblance to the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Crown has dramatised goings on within the Royal Family shortly before the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and on.

It is not known how much further into the recent history of the family programme creators will go.

Many fans are no doubt hoping the series will go on as late as possible, including William’s romance wtih fellow university student Kate.

It has been claimed Prince Harry said he would insist on the show ending before it got to the modern day.

Angela Levin, who wrote Harry: A Biography of a Prince, told talkRadio Harry told her: “We’re all absolutely watching everything but I’m going to insist it stops before it reaches me”.’

Given Harry and Meghan’s multi-million pound deal with Netflix, it’s likely his wishes will be answered.

The show could include scenes with Kate and William, however, without Harry.

If this should be the case, who might Netflix cast to play Kate Middleton?

A number of fans have thrown various actor’s names into the mix.

Who have they suggested? One Twitter user said: “I’ve said this before and I’ll say it to my grave.

@Season six of The Crown will go into the early 200s, that’s when Kate Middleton met William. Therefore NEtflix NEEDS to cast Daisy Ridley. She’s perfect for the role. #TheCrown.”
