Coachella is back again for 2022, once more heading to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Split between two weekends, April 15-17, and April 22-24, it will be a landmark show for Harry Styles’ fans, as the artist will be headlining the show for the first time. The 27-year-old is expected to drop new music ahead of the concert, with his addition all but confirming new tracks. This year will also see the return of Swedish House Mafia, though it is unconfirmed if they are headlining as well.
Styles has had a strong couple of years, as the young artist just completed the biggest North American tour by any major performer since the pandemic began. Despite the success, fans are desperate for new music, as there hasn’t been a new release since his 2019 album Fine Line.
Yet, while it is the One Director star’s first time on the main stage at Coachella, it is the second time Eilish has performed there. The No Time To Die singer is returning after her record-breaking 2019 show and, at just 20 years old, she was the youngest artist to headline.
Yet, Kanye West’s return will be no surprise for his fans, as it was first reported last week that he would be leading the festival. It is the rapper’s first time in over a decade, as he last took the top spot in 2011.
Joining Styles, West and Eilish at the festival Lil Baby, Daniel Caesar, Phoebe Bridgers, Big Sean, Flume, Megan Thee Stallion, Disclosure, 21 Savage, Danny Elfman, Doja Cat, Joji.
Also, Stromae, Giveon, Anitta, Grupo Firme, Louis the Child, Baby Keem, Jamie xx, Run the Jewels, Karol G, Maggie Rogers, Ari Lennox and Banda MS. The remaining performers are pictured below.
Tickets for the first weekend have already sold out, and the second weekend is expected to follow soon. Fans are nervous about the event, as it has already been postponed five times since it was first confirmed.
The lineup’s announcement comes after a surge in Omicron cases in the USA, though it follows Coachella’s recent reversal of its required-vaccination policy. Now, fans only need to show proof of a positive test before stepping into the fest.
Coachella is North America’s largest music festival and has already sold all 125,000 per-day tickets. This year marks the 21st time the concert has been held, as it missed 2021 due to the pandemic.
When 2022’s festival was first announced in January of 2020, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, and Rage Against the Machine were all confirmed as headline acts. Ocean has since moved his appearance into 2023, and Scott was removed from the lineup due to the Astroworld tragedy.
