GB News host felt parents worst nightmare as child, 5, nearly crushed by van

GB News host Isabel Webster felt "traumatised" after her five-year-old daughter was nearly hit by a van.

The TV presenter, 40, revealed that her daughter, Poppy, narrowly avoided being "crushed" by the vehicle during a family bike ride on Sunday (February 5).

The journalist revealed that she, her husband, Liam and her daughter Poppy enjoyed a bike ride around Richmond Park in London when Poppy lost control of the bicycle on the way home.

Isabel revealed they were going downhill when the cycle lane stopped and merged with a country lane.

Isabel shared that "time had slowed down" when her daughter Poppy, who was in front of them, joined the road at the exact moment a white van was "accelerating" towards her and nearly hit her.

However, dad Liam managed to propel himself off the bike, leapt in front of the van, and moved Poppy out of the way.

In an Instagram post, Isabel described the incident as "every parent's worst nightmare" as she shared the details about the moment.

She explained: "We were cycling downhill when there was a pause in the cycle path where a road intersects it.

"This is when time slowed down. I saw a white van hurtling along, accelerating towards Poppy."

She added: "She was screaming because she couldn't make the bike stop. I thought this is going to be really bad.

"I essentially froze. It felt like time had stopped, but everything happened so quickly.

"My husband is a very experienced cyclist, so he jumped off his bike into the air and launched himself in front of the van."

She continued: "Poppy is only little, but he managed to get in front of the van and swoop her to one side."

The incident left the mother-of-two in "floods of tears", she added: "It was one of those moments where you think, I'm so close to losing her.

"Thank God someone was watching over us yesterday. It was a hair's breadth away from tragedy.

"It was every parent's worst nightmare. I can't believe how lucky we were."
