Gemma Collins dreams come true as she takes victory at Oxford Union debate

Gemma Collins has become victorious at the Oxford Union as she wins her fierce debate to modernise Christmas food.

The reality star competed against the European Debate Championship quarterfinalist, Samuel Scheuer.

The 40-year-old explained how much she enjoyed the debate.

She said: “I had a brilliant time debating at the Oxford Union, it was an absolute dream come true for me.

"Although I had a very skilled opponent who made some excellent points, the union voted in favour of modern Christmas dinners – so I won!

"This shows that the nation is really is moving towards more modernised Christmas dinners and I think we should all embrace that!

"I’ll definitely be tucking into the Sainsbury’s Brussel Sprout and Parsnip Bhajis on Christmas Day.”

The esteemed institution has previously seen the likes of Morgan Freeman and Anna Wintour debate before Sainsbury's pitted Gemma Collin to decide the fate of the Christmas argument.

Christmas Day is just over two weeks away, but the nation is still split over what to serve at the table this year, with over half (51%) wanting an alternative to a traditional turkey and the average household serving at least three main dishes to satisfy everyone.

Surveys have revealed that 84% of people would rather dine on curry, fried chicken or pizza on Christmas Day whereas, the older generated (74+) are favouring the traditional turkey spread.

Sainsbury’s Director of Product and Innovation, Claire Hughes said: “The nation is split down the middle on the traditional versus modern Christmas debate, and it is so intriguing to see how traditional dishes are evolving.

What do you think? Would you prefer a traditional Christmas dinner or something more modern? Let us know in the comments below!

"I’ll be trying something new by tucking into our Pigs in Blankets sushi, but I admittedly also can’t resist a Brussel sprout – so I’ll be enjoying the best of both worlds this Christmas!”
