Tory Lanez supposedly tried to pay for Megan Thee Stallion‘s silence in regards to the alleged shooting incident that took place in July 2020.
The Houston, Texas rapper detailed the altercation in a recent interview and explained that she initially wanted to exit the car and take another mode of transport home. She had just left a pool party but her phone was already dead, it was late in the evening, she was only in a swimsuit and the people in the car were telling her to get back in so they can leave, so she returned to the car despite the argument that was already heating up. Then, as the reports go, she was allegedly shot in the foot by Lanez as she tried to leave the car for a second time. “Like, I never put my hands on nobody,” she said. “I barely even said anything to the man who shot me when I was walking away. We were literally like five minutes away from the house.”
She then claimed that Lanez “begged” her to keep quiet, offering her and the friend she was with that night some money in return. “[At this point] I’m really scared,” she said, “because this is like right in the middle of all the protesting. Police are just killing everybody for no reason, and I’m thinking, ‘I can’t believe you even think I want to take some money. Like, you just shot me.’ ”
A lawyer for Lanez, however, reached out and denied that his client offered her and her friend money.
Lanez was eventually charged in October 2020 with two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office stated that the Canadian artist, whose real name is Daystar Petersen, “inflicted great bodily injury” on Megan Thee Stallion.
