Public Enemy has shared an accompanying music video for their What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down? cut, “Public Enemy Number Won.”
The animated visual, which also highlights track collaborators Run-D.M.C., and Mike D and Ad-Rock of Beastie Boys, features animated versions of the hip-hop legends along with archival concert posters, footage and more. Its ending also pays homage to their fallen brothers, MCA and Jam Master Jay.
“The song is an homage to ‘Public Enemy No. 1 and that moment in time,” Chuck D explained in a statement. “The Beastie Boys and Run-DMC were playing it all the time and Rick Rubin kept coming at us to sign with Def Jam. So it’s my way of bringing it all back together again.”
