Kourtney Kardashian's ex-partner Scott Disick "always believed they'd get back together" following Kourtney's surprise engagement to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.
The pair had quite the rocky romance but ultimately had three children together and Scott remained incredibly close to the family – but reports suggest he had hoped for more.
Speaking to The Sun, an insider claimed that Scott, 38, feels like he has "officially lost" Kourtney, 42, despite parting ways from the reality star a few years prior.
Gaining Scott's perspective on her recent proposal, the insider claimed: "Scott knew the engagement was coming because Kourtney indicated that the relationship was serious, but it hasn’t stopped him from feeling rejected, like he's officially lost her.
"He had always hoped they would reunite and get back together but is now having to come to terms with the fact that's never going to happen.
"He felt she'd come around eventually and he'd just fill his time with young women, dating and having fun, until she was ready to get serious."
The source also added that Scott thinks Kourtney and Travis' relationship is very "over the top" but things are beginning to feel very real for him.
On Sunday, rockstar Travis, 45, got down on one knee and proposed to Poosh business owner Kourtney.
Travis pulled out all the stops at a beachside hotel in Montecito where the couple were seen surrounded by a sea of red roses that took the shape of a large love heart.
The lavish proposal took place at 6:30 PM with family members from both sides in attendance.
Despite becoming Instagram official less than a year ago, the Hollywood stars have fallen head over heels with each other and have often shared images of themselves packing on the PDA to their fans online.
Talking about the happy couple, an insider told E! News: "Kourtney is the happiest. Travis adores her and treats her so well. It's very different than her other relationships and all positive."
Kourtney previously dated Scott on and off from 2005 to 2015. The pair share three children together Mason, 11, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 6.
Travis has also been married twice before.
The star first tied the knot with his ex-wife Melissa Kennedy but the marriage only lasted a year.
He then went on the marry Shanna Moakler in 2004 and the pair share two children with each other.
The hit maker split from Shanna in 2008.
