Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has revealed how long he plans to stay on the soap as Tyrone Dobbs.
The actor has been on the cobbles for 22 years in the role and thankfully that’s not going to change any time soon.
On Tuesday’s episode of Lorraine he was asked if he could see himself being ‘like Ken Barlow and just being there forever’.
Alan replied: ‘I’ve been very fortunate. From the age of 11 I was working on television on different programmes and I got Corrie when I was 16 so I’d already done quite a lot of stuff on television.
‘I’m challenged all the time at Coronation Street with different storylines, different people to work with, it’s always something different to me.
‘I saw 22 years have flown by and to be honest with you, if they said “Would you sign another contract for 22 years now?”, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’d sign it immediately.’
He also praised the soap for ‘having a huge impact’ on his life both on screen and off.
The TV star met his ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson on the soap when she played Katy Harris and the pair went on to have daughter Sienna Rae before they divorced in 2018.
Alan, 38, is now in a relationship with another Corrie star, Tisha Merry, who played Steph Britton on the show from 2013 until 2017.
‘Corrie’s had a huge impact on me professionally and personally, I’ve so much to thank it for’, he said.
‘My day to day life is surrounded by memories of Corrie and going in puts a smile on my face.
‘Some of my best friends I work with day to day, so I feel very fortunate for that.’
