Alex Beresford reached out to Piers Morgan privately and told him he needed to 'better understand' Meghan Markle 's racism claims before their live showdown on Good Morning Britain.
The weatherman wanted Piers to see her comments from the perspective of a mixed raced person.
Writing in his explosive Mail on Sunday column, Piers says he was open ears and it was at his request that Alex was put onto GMB after Meghan's Orpah tell-all.
He penned: "Alex Beresford, GMB's occasional stand-in weatherman, messaged me saying I needed to better understand Meghan Markle's racism claims from the perspective of mixed-race people like himself.
"I told the team to get him in tomorrow so we can debate it on air."
He added of the fateful morning on Tuesday, March 9: "When we got on air, I was tired and agitated.
"Alex Beresford seemed equally uptight and launched into a very personal attack.
As he delivered his censorious lecture, implying my only motivation for disbelieving Ms Markle's outlandish interview claims was because she 'ghosted' me four years ago after we'd been friendly for 18 months.. I felt the steam rising inside me."
Claiming Alex is the only member of the Good Morning Britain team who hasn't privately reached out following his decision to quit the show, Piers added: "I've had nice messages from all the other GMB presenters, apart from Alex Beresford, and many of the wonderful production team, from camera operators and producers to make-up artists. Some really moved me."
While Alex didn't private reach out, he did post a public message to Piers online.

In a statement posted to Twitter on Thursday morning, Alex said: "There is so much that could be said. Piers' departure sincerely wasn't the conclusion I was hoping for.
"Over the last few years, Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky on-air relationship.
"We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning, and from our very public conversations on Twitter, we both knew how strongly our opinions differed on the treatment of Harry and Meghan pre and post the interview that has split the world.
Piers Morgan reveals the text Jeremy Clarkson sent him after he stormed off GMB
"I hoped we could reach a place of understanding. It's sad that we weren't able to get there, but challenging his opinion was not an outrage. On this occasion, we have to agree to disagree.
"I didn't want him to quit, but I did want him to listen.
"Personally, Piers has always supported my growth. He's given me advice on several occasions and for that I am grateful. I wish him well!"
