Anton Du Beke has finally sent his congratulations to Motsi Mabuse following her appointment as the new Strictly Come Dancing judge.
The veteran dancer was notably quiet after news broke that Oti Mabuse's older sister would be stepping in Darcey Bussell's dancing shoes.
It had been reported that Anton was keen to join the judging table after 15 years on the BBC dancing competition, but was 'devastated' to be passed over for Motsi.
Anton shared the BBC's announcement along with the comment: "Welcome to the family Motsi! You’re going to have a great time. Can’t wait to get started! x."
Anton, 53, was one of the favourites to replace Darcey when she announced she was leaving the show after seven years, however it was never confirmed he was being considered.
Oti Mabuse was also rumoured to be in the running but had said on a couple of occasions that she didn't want to take the role.
Some of Anton's fans responded to the news saying they wished he'd been given the gig.
"I'm gutted you didn't get the nod Anton x.”
Another added: “I would’ve loved if you had got the job,” and a third said: “Nooooo it should’ve been you!”
