BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood red-faced as Jon Kay points out live blunder at start of weather report | The Sun

CAROL Kirkwood was left red-faced after her BBC Breakfast co-star, Jon Kay, pointed out a huge blunder before her live weather report.

There was an awkward interaction between the presenters in the BBC Breakfast studio this Tuesday morning.

Carol, 61, was caught off guard after Jon made an observation about one of the photographs shown in her weather report.

Jon remarked: "Right, it's just after 10 to eight and you know Carol gets beautiful pictures from all over the UK from you everyday that just encapsulate the weather.

"Well, this morning she's got a cracker, I think that's how you say it."

Carol laughed: "It is. It's beautiful. I am looking at the sky of course Jon. I don't know what you're looking at."

Jon replied: "I'm not looking at the sky Carol."

Viewers could see Carol had selected an image of a road with bright blue skies above, but there was also a long line of portable toilets which was hard to ignore as it spoiled picture.

Carol explained: "I didn't notice that when I pulled it in unfortunately.

"But it is lovely isn't it? This is one of our weather watcher's pictures taken a wee bit earlier in John O'Groats in the Highlands."

Handling it like a pro, Carol moved on from the awkward blunder and delivered the latest weather forecast.

This comes after Carol has revealed details of her 'intimate wedding' to fiancé Steve.

She became engaged to Steve Randall in Spring last year, and announced the happy news on BBC Breakfast.

While the couple haven't set a date for their big day yet, Carol has revealed what she has in mind for her nuptials.

Speaking to Notebook magazine, she said: "We’re very happy and we’re loved up, and we’re delighted to be together, but we haven’t got a wedding date yet.

"I think we’ll have an intimate wedding. We don’t want to just squeeze it in, we want it to be a celebration.”

Carol couldn't help but gush about her future husband, who is 13 years her junior.

She said: "He’s so kind, and that’s really important to me. I know
kindness is a buzzword at the moment, but it’s really important in a relationship.”

She also revealed how Steve gets up and makes her a cup of tea every day at 2.45am when she has to get up for her shifts on BBC Breakfast.

But she added: "You should be reliant on yourself for happiness and if somebody else also makes you happy, that’s a huge bonus.
