Casualty spoilers: Lives in danger as a suicide bomber targets the ED

Following last week’s ambulance crash, there’s another edge-of-your-seat episode as tonight’s Casualty wastes no time in ramping up the tension.

Even before the titles have rolled we see a man walk into the ED with a large quantity of explosives strapped to his body. Who is he, and why is he targeting the department and putting so many lives in danger?

Before we find out, there’s an appearance from Tina (Adele James), the sister of Jacob’s late friend and former patient Nate. There used to be some chemistry between Jacob and Tina and now she announces she’s single again.

Since Connie apparently parked her relationship with Jacob with her ‘Lockdown’s finished, Jacob’ comment a few weeks ago, does this mean that Jacob and Tina could get together? Or will Connie have a change of heart?

But back to that suicide bomber… When he walks into resus, a terrified Connie (Amanda Mealing), Marty (Shaheen Jafargholi) and Jacob (Charles Venn) find themselves in deadly danger.

As Jacob does his best to calmly take control of the situation, Connie tries to do all she can to keep him safe – but the bomber is a desperate man who won’t have any hesitation in blowing himself up and taking Jacob with him. As armed police surround the building, will Connie, Jacob and Marty get out alive?

Marty’s dad Graham (Philip Wright), is also in the department, getting treatment after an accident. He badly wants to make amends with his son for his previous attitude towards him, now he realises that nurses are NHS heroes, but Marty isn’t convinced that Graham fully accepts him.

When Graham realises that Marty is in danger, he rushes to find him and discovers Marty in a tense life-or-death situation. Is Graham about to put himself at risk too?
