The verdict is in and fans are not happy about it! Tonight's episode of Coronation Street left fans in pieces as they watched killer Corey Brent walk away from the high-stakes trial without a scratch against his name.

Instead, Kelly Neelan was sent down for Seb's murder after Corey's false testimony and prosecutor Sabeen's attack convinced the jury she was guilty.

Nina Lucas – who had been suffering from memory loss – may have remembered that Corey Brent killed her boyfriend Seb Franklin in harrowing flashback scenes, but it wasn't enough to see him sent down.

The dramatic scenes have been dubbed "a travesty of justice" as outraged viewers took to Twitter in dismay.

One fan wrote: "Literally just ruined this storyline by letting Corey go free. Soaps are getting way too predictable."

While another angrily penned: "This is worthy of calling Ofcom. Wtf #Corrie"

A third speculated that there could be a twist that sees Corey get caught, though. They wrote: "Corey won't be able to resist bragging that he’s got away with murder and someone will record him. #Corrie"

A fourth was outraged by the portrayal of the justice system: "What a mockery of the justice system, how will that help those who have experienced hate crimes feel safe and speak out. I know its acting but this was based on a true story who were all found guilty, come on corrie!"

Corey painted Kelly as the killer in his testimony and she was nervous as she explained the truth during the trial — telling the jury that she begged Corey to stop when she realised things were going too far.

But prosecutor Sabeen painted a different picture, claiming that Kelly beat Seb to death in an effort to impress Corey.

Only recently on Coronation Street, fans were left in tears as Nina remembered who killed her boyfriend Seb in harrowing flashback scenes.

Ahead of the murder trial, Nina (Mollie Gallagher), who has been suffering from memory loss following the horrific hate crime attack, recalled the night of Seb's murder after a piece of music triggered flashbacks.

Things became even clearer in her mind when she traced his final steps with Summer, Abi, Asha and Aadi in tow where she recalled the night of his murder.

Asked if she remembered who did it, Nina said: "Corey, it was Corey… I remember everything."
