Coronation Street spoilers: Claudia Colby makes shock return to the cobbles after devastating death

CLAUDIA Colby makes a shock return as the cobbles is rocked by the death of Norris Cole next week in Coronation Street.

Claudia – who is played by actress Rula Lenska in the ITV soap – was last seen back in April last year after splitting up with her boyfriend Ken Barlow (William Roache).

Ken and Claudia had moved into luxury retirement complex Still Waters, where Norris was also living, but Ken realised he was homesick and returned to the cobbles without her.

Next week’s episodes of Corrie see Rita panick when Freda Burgess (Ali Briggs) calls to tell her that Norris is in hospital after suffering a stroke.

Rita and Mary rush to the hospital but, when they arrive, they’re told they’re too late and that Norris has already died.

The episodes conclude with Norris’ friends raising a toast to their dearly-departed in the Rovers.

Later in the week, as Mary and Freda bicker over Norris’s funeral arrangement, Claudia arrives on the scene.

Eventually Rita steps in and insists Norris would choose the street for his wake.

Could a reunion be on the cards for Claudia and Ken?

The Corrie cast, including Norris’ former on-screen wife Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) and Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska), were spotted filming funeral scenes last month, leading to speculation that Norris had been killed off away from screen.

In January Corrie star Malcolm revealed he had quietly retired from the soap after 27 years in the role of busybody Norris.

The 81-year-old actor called it a day following a near fatal heart attack in 2017.

Norris left for care home Stillwaters in June 2019 and made the odd cameo before retiring.

He told The Sun at the time: “I absolutely adored playing Norris and I was pleased to be able to return briefly after my operation.

“It took a great deal of courage to make the decision to retire.

“But I had come to realise that although the mind was willing the body was not so much.”
