Coronation Street spoilers for April 17 2023: Justin pleads not guilty

Monday night’s Coronation Street brings the horrifying acid attack back into focus as Justin pleads not guilty in court – leaving a stunned Daniel to break the news to Daisy after she was unable to face the hearing.

She breaks the news to Ryan (Ryan Prescott) and Alya (Sair Khan), with Ryan admitting he is scared witless at the thought of having to relive the whole nightmare in court. When Alya assures him she’ll be right by his side, Ryan admits that he loves her – but how will she react?

Daisy takes Crystal to see Ryan in hospital, hoping she will boost his confidence. Ryan thanks her, admitting that discussing gigs in Ibiza has given him something to focus on.

Meanwhile, Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) persuades Roy (David Neilson) to accompany her to her Salsa class and Glenda realises she’s got her work cut out.

Midway through the lesson Roy clutches his chest and admits that he doesn’t feel well before hurrying out.

Evelyn later chides Roy for abandoning her mid-lesson, and leaves in a huff after Roy admits he felt unwell but refuses to elaborate.

Jackson and Miley call at the factory to see Faye (Ellie Leach) who is touched when Craig presents them with tickets for the Weatherfield Giants basketball game and insists they go and enjoy themselves.

As they head for the tram stop with Miley, Faye and Jackson share a lingering look. And there’s a surprise for Miley later on when Craig presents her with a basketball signed by her favourite player.

Things are also hotting up between Beth (Lisa George) and Marco as she agrees to go for a drink with him. As they flirt on the swings he makes his feelings known as he briefly kisses her.

Elsewhere Elaine (Paula Wilcox) puts pressure on Stephen (Todd Boyce) to announce their engagement but Stephen persuades her that they should wait until they’ve moved into their new flat.

And Michael starts his new role as junior manager and suggests to Stephen that Rufus must have drunkenly fallen into his swimming pool, a theory which Stephen is only too happy to agree with.

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Monday night at 8pm.
