Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) gets the wrong end of the stick in Coronation Street, when she overhears Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) talking about Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and assumes he’s discussing her.

The teen agrees to babysit Bertie next week, and afterwards, Daniel quizzes her on her apparent love for Oscar Wilde, informing her that she can have a lend of his book of The Importance Of Being Earnest.

Summer is grateful, while Daniel discusses Oscar.

‘Poor Oscar,’ he says, as seen in the clip above. ‘Jailed. Disgraced, ended up dying in exile. And what for? What was he guilty of?’

Daniel’s eye catches a photo of himself with Sinead. ‘You can’t help who you fall in love with, can you?’, he adds, evidently talking about his beloved wife.

Summer, however, reckons he’s referring to her!

Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), meanwhile, pops in for a chat with Daniel, which prompts Summer to leave.

The solicitor reveals he just saw Daisy, which piques Daniel’s interest. ‘She’s only human, isn’t she?’ jokes the teacher.

Summer, however, walks back in – having forgot to take the Oscar Wilde book with her – and she overhears the conversation between Daniel and Adam, once again getting the wrong end of the stick.

‘You obviously like each other,’ says Adam, referring to Daisy, but Summer thinks the discussion is about her and Daniel.

Sneaking out before she’s seen, she smiles to herself, before setting off.

Summer is seemingly starting to develop a bit of a crush on her teacher.

Coronation Street airs these scenes Tuesday November 9 at 7:30pm on ITV.
