EastEnders spoilers: Jonno Highway attacked by Phil Mitchell after crossing Ben?

After Whitney Dean (played by Shona McGarty) expressed an interest in meeting Callum’s (Tony Clay) father, he decided to get in touch with him.

Both he and brother Stuart (Ricky Champ) have a complicated relationship with their dad who was clearly not the best parent.

This evening’s double bill of EastEnders saw their dad Jonno (Richard Graham) rock up in Walford.

But before he saw his sons, Jonno struck up a conversation with Phil (Steve McFadden) and Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) in the Vic on the BBC soap.

However, he immediately put a foot in it when he began to criticise the upcoming Pride parade in Albert Square, thinking Phil and Ben would share his homophobic views.

“Look at this lot, Pride,” Jonno spat as he referred to a leaflet advertising the celebration.

“In our day if you didn’t know your back from your front you’d have the sense to keep quiet about it. Now, shoving it down our throats. Why is it something to be proud of?”

“Got a problem with Pride?” Ben asked. “Because I’m one of these lot. So if you’ve got a problem with Pride, you’ve got a problem with me.”

“And me,” Phil chimed in to back up his son.

“Can’t no one take a joke around here?” Jonno replied, trying to brush off his offensive remarks.

“Only it weren’t a joke, was it?” Phil hit back. “So if I was you I’d get out of here while you can still walk.”

It has already been revealed that Jonno will be involved in a violent altercation with Ben later this week in the Vic.

It unfolds after Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) warns Callum that his dad is trouble, and Jonno later follows Ben into the toilets where things turn nasty.

However, the outcome of the situation remains to be seen but one thing is for sure; Phil hates anyone messing around with his family and he’s already warned Jonno once.

Could Jonno live to regret confronting a Mitchell?

Elsewhere on tonight’s episode, he appeared to settle some things with his son Callum.

Jonno mocked him for leaving the army and continually made fun of him as Jonno, Callum, Whitney and Stuart all went for a meal at Walford East.

But Callum said Jonno was welcome at his wedding which he appeared to be pleased with and even offered to pay for Whitney’s dress.

“That’s touched me Callum, proper touched me. New beginnings,” Jonno declared.

Callum is obviously still wary of his father, but was pleased that things were going so well between himself and Whitney.

He told her: “I really couldn’t have done that without you.

“Getting in touch with him, all of it. I wouldn’t have done it if you hadn’t have helped me. I think it’s going to be alright now.

“I just need you to know that I have never been so happy.”

EastEnders continues Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
