The Sun can exclusively reveal that the ITV soap is building a major structure on the existing village plot for the explosive scenes.
Planning documents seen by The Sun describe how the building of the temporary structure is necessary to pull off the storyline in a covid-secure way.
The scenes will see the barn go up in a blast that destroys the building completely.
The planning application from bosses states: "We will use structural timbers, with the addition of some specialist ‘breakaway’ stunt material, in some areas, to ensure the maximum visual impact & the highest level of safety."
They also promise the entire barn will be "deliberately destroyed" during the stunt.
It is not yet known if any characters will die in the stunt, however bosses previously teased one tragedy coming to the village.
Producer Laura Shaw teased a major spectacle coming, calling it "undoubtedly our most ambitious work since the dreaded COVID hit us”.
She also promised the final scenes will be "absolutely epic and truly rewarding for our fans, who love it when we go big".

"I can't say much more about that, but what I can tell you is that ultimately this story will end in tragedy for at least one of our characters – but the question is who?" she added to The Sun.
Previous stunts have seen swathes of characters killed off in the likes of a plane crash, flash floods and a helicopter disaster.
An Emmerdale spokeswoman has been contacted for comment.
