During the latest episode of A Place in the Sun, Channel 4 presenter Jasmine Harman hoped to find retiree Maralyn and daughter Nicola their dream holiday home in Estepona on the Costa del Sol, Spain. With a budget of £230,000, the duo seemed to have a long list of requirements. They wanted a three-bedroom holiday home, with sea views, plenty of outdoor space and they wanted to be close to bars and restaurants.

The first property Jasmine took the pair to, was an apartment located right in the middle of the town.

“Looks nice and clean,” Maralyn commented as Jasmine showed them the communal swimming pool.

The property expert went on to explain the two-bed apartment was priced at £199,000.

However, after stepping foot inside the property, the duo were put off by how “small” it was.

After shutting down the holiday home, they explained to Jasmine a third bedroom was needed because of all the family that would be staying there at the same time.

Moving on to the next holiday home, Jasmine took the duo to a more residential area.

Maralyn said she was unsure about living in such a residential area but was happy to look around.

Despite loving the inside space of the property, the mother and daughter said a good outside space to have barbecues was a non-negotiable for them.

When Jasmine asked if they wanted to see any more, the duo cut the viewing short.

“Do you want to have a look at the rest?” Jasmine asked the house hunters. “Given what you’ve said about the outside space.”

“I think we’re fine now, aren’t we?” Nicola said putting a stop to the search.

“We’ve seen enough and it hasn’t got the outside space.”

Things seemed to go from bad to worse for Jasmine, as Maralyn and Nicola seemed to also dislike the third property.

Before they had even looked around, Jasmine pointed out: “You don’t seem to be excited.”

As the house hunters explained they were feeling unsure about the Penthouse apartment, Jasmine continued: “This isn’t the start I was hoping for.”

The property expert seemed to impress the pair when they stepped inside the apartment. However, they were quick to rule out it.

Jasmine began to panic as she explained she had no holiday homes in the running.

The property expert decided to take the duo back towards the town and found a three-bedroom apartment.

The only compromise was that it didn’t come with a communal swimming pool.

Despite the compromise, Maralyn and Nicola seemed to love it and went on to explain it could be a contender.

The fifth and final property seemed to win the duo over, and in the end, they decided to put in an offer.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
