GIGI Hadid and Zayn Malik have reportedly broken up.
The split comes after the model's "very protective" mom Yolanda claimed the singer "hit her."
A source close to the Hadid family told PEOPLE on Thursday: "They are not together right now. They are both good parents though.
"They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild."
The model's rep also told the outlet: "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time."
Gigi, 26, and Zayn, 28, share one-year-old daughter Khai together.
The split comes shortly after Yolanda accused Zayn of assault.
On Thursday, Yolanda, 57, alleged that the One Direction alum "struck her" the week prior during a family dispute.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum is also allegedly thinking about filing a police report.
“We don't have the details of what she claims triggered the alleged assault, but we're told Yolanda stands by her account. She claims Zayn 'struck' her,” TMZ reported.
At this time, it remains unclear what actually happened but it reportedly occurred at their ranch in Pennsylvania, where the couple has been living to maintain a low profile.
Shortly after Yolanda made the claims, Zayn took to Twitter to release a statement.
He wrote: "As you all know, I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.
"In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.
"This was and still should be a private matter," Zayn continued, "but it seems for not there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been 'leaked' to the press.
"I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves."
Despite addressing the situation, Zayn did not mention Yolanda's allegations.
The news of their alleged split comes after fans insisted the pair broke up.
Yolanda may have left a cryptic clue that hinted towards a separation, as she wished her daughter a 'happy birthday' earlier in October in her last Instagram post.
"The brightest stars rise out of darkness and a shining star is what you are my sweet angel, don’t let anyone or anything ever dim that beautiful light within you," the Bravo alum wrote to the model on Instagram.
The couple welcomed their first child in September 2020 following years of an on-again, off-again relationship which began in 2015.
Just before they welcomed their daughter, the couple appeared to have not been together.
In fact, Gigi was dating The Bachelorette's Tyler Cameron just weeks before she announced her pregnancy.
