I'm A Celeb runner up Jordan North lined up for promotion at the BBC

HE’S been dubbed Radio 1’s supply teacher for yonks but now JordanNorth is gearing up to become the headmaster.

After coming runner-up to Giovanna Fletcher on this year’s I’m A Celebrity, Jordan is about to propel to new levels of stardom and is being lined up for a big promotion at the Beeb.

I’m told his team will be chatting with bosses this week about his future — with a mainstream move being mooted for 2021.

An insider said: “Jordan has been a hugely popular member of the BBC Radio 1 team since he started but since he appeared on I’m A Celeb, his profile has sky-rocketed.

"While Giovanna was the winner, Jordan’s success on the show has made him a family favourite and has put him in great stead for the future.

“Jordan is the host of the weekend show and is known as the supply teacher because of the amount of times he has covered for Nick Grimshaw and Scott Mills. But now his team are working on landing him a spot with a bigger audience.

“As far as Jordan is concerned, the sky is the limit now and he appeals to everyone – not just Radio 1 listeners. Jordan’s profile is going to be raised massively in the next few months and the plan, along with getting him a more coveted spot on air, is to get him back on the box.

“Along with panel shows, Jordan is destined for his own series after easily becoming the stand-out star of this year’s show.”

Jordan was the rank outsider when I revealed he was joining the line-up back in November. But after facing his fears – almost anything remotely scary – Jordan became a fan favourite on the ITV show.

I got to interview him just hours after he left Gwrych Castle. He admitted he almost quit ahead of Viper Vault, where he was forced to face his biggest phobia – snakes. Luckily for him – and the public – Jordan stayed put. Now the only way for him is up, and I’ll be clapping him all the way.

Bake Off scolding was Leithal

SHE may have a reputation as one of telly’s cuddliest judges, but Bake Off contestants Laura Adlington and Lottie Bedlow suffered a severe Prue Leith scolding that had to be cut from the show.

The pair were given a schoolteacher-style ticking off for giggling after Prue was riled by the cast’s disastrous attempt at eclairs.

Finalist Laura said: “It didn’t make the edit, but when they did the judging, we were all giggling like naughty school kids.

“Prue looked up, looked down and was like, ‘I really don’t think there’s anything to laugh about’ and I had to hide behind my apron.

"I had tears, snot bubbles, everything. We were all p***ing ourselves."

Lottie said: “She’s so lovely, but this one time she was like, ‘It’s not a laughing matter’.”

Baby bump

A MAJOR season three spoiler for Sex Education fans: Gillian Anderson was pictured on set cradling a baby bump.

At the end of season two, viewers discovered that Gillian’s character Dr Jean Milburn was pregnant with Jakob Nyman’s baby, despite Jakob having had a vasectomy.

It’s time to Count me out – Nick

NICK Hewer is calling time on Countdown after hosting the Channel 4 game show for the best part of a decade.

Nick said he’d spent lockdown considering his future, adding: “I’ve decided it’s a good time to step down at the end of my contract in the New Year.

“As someone in his 77th year, who will be in his 10th year hosting the great British institution that is Countdown, I think it’s time to smell the flowers and get a dog.”

‘Silly rumours’

STEPHEN Bear has hit back after his ex Georgia Harrison accused him of making a secret CCTV tape of her and showing it to friends.

The Celebrity Big Brother star dismissed the claims as “silly rumours” after she posted a string of accusations about him online.
