ITVs Im A Celebrity remove contestants from Gwrych Castle due to Storm Arwen

I'm A Celebrity has removed the contestants from Gwrych Castle after suffering "technical issues" due to Storm Arwen.

It comes after the ITV show cancelled Saturday 27 November and Sunday 28 November episodes due to the "extreme" weather conditions.

An I'm A Celebrity spokesperson told OK!: "Whilst we get the production base back up and running after suffering technical issues due to the storm, we have removed the celebrities from the castle."

The contestants will individually return to quarantine to ensure they remain Covid secure, which will be the same conditions they did prior to the show.

Once the whole production is safely re-established, the celebrities will all return to Gwrych Castle.

The update comes after it was announced that I'm A Celebrity had been cancelled for two nights over the weekend due to "technical difficulties" caused by Storm Arwen.

Issuing an official statement ahead of the latest instalment, ITV confirmed that both Saturday 27 November and Sunday 28 November episodes will be replaced by compilation shows voiced by hosts Ant and Dec.

An I'm A Celebrity spokesperson told OK! : "Owing to technical difficulties caused by extreme weather conditions in the area, there will be no new episodes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

"I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will be replaced tonight and tomorrow night in the ITV schedules by compilation shows (voiced by Ant & Dec) featuring best moments from previous series."

It comes after Friday's show aired as a pre-recorded episode for the first time in the show's history due to the developing weather conditions at the time.

An I'm A Celebrity spokesperson told OK! at the time: "Tonight's I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will be broadcast as a pre-recorded show rather than live due to the developing Storm Arwen and precautionary measures we're putting into place on production.

"Ant & Dec will record their links early evening and these will be played out during tonight's show.

"Our celebrities will remain inside the castle which is secure and we have contingencies in place to cover all weather scenarios to ensure the safety of our cast and crew."

It's been an eventful few days after Richard Madeley was forced to pull out of the show after he was taken to hospital on Thursday morning.

Richard, 65, had fallen ill while staying on-set in Gwrych Castle at the ITV show’s North Wales location and due to breaking the Covid bubble with his visit to hospital, he had to leave the camp.

The Good Morning Britain star, who has since insisted he is "fit as a fiddle", was spotted for the first time on Friday after his early exit from the ITV show and he appeared in good spirits.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! new episodes will air on Monday at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
