If history has taught us anything about Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), it’s that she’ll do just about anything to get what she wants, and what she wants is Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), and thus she sets out to win his affection in upcoming EastEnders scenes.
The soap’s resident schemer is on a mission over the festive season, as she flirts with the landlord as celebrations get underway, leaving Nancy (Maddy Hill) and Shirley (Linda Henry) concerned.
As the ‘Best Spouse in the ‘Ouse’ competition gets underway, Janine messes the questions up, which antagonises Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and they soon go head-to-head.
But there are bigger problems to come, as Mick realises he doesn’t have presents for the kids at his Christmas event! Janine, therefore, swoops into action, telling her boss she’s sorted it.
Afterwards, Janine gets provocatively dressed up as Santa’s Little Helper! Her plan, however, backfires, as Mick doesn’t notice, which leaves Nancy amused.
But after discovering that Mick is not spending Christmas with Linda (Kellie Bright), she ups the ante, as she tries to get the Queen Vic publican on his own.
Meddling where she’s not wanted, Janine tells Zack Hudson (James Farrar) that Nancy still has feelings for him in a bid to get Nancy out of her way.
Nancy, meanwhile, finds out what Janine did, and let’s just say she’s not too pleased about the schemer’s actions!
Janine isn’t ready to back down, however, as her mind whirs when Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) makes reference to Linda’s alcoholism, and subsequent scenes sees her scheme some more.
The question is: just what is she up to? And will she succeed in winning Mick’s affection?
That remains to be seen, but soon enough, Nancy takes great delight in telling her to pack her bags!
