Jemma Donovan, 19, chatted about her new role on the Australian soap to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show today.
The teen revealed that she is set to play an “independent” and “mature” character called Harlow Robinson on Neighbours.
Jemma told Lorraine, 59: “Harlow is independent and mature.
“She’s come to visit her dad, who is in prison.
“My dad cried when he found out I’d got the role”
“She’s got a bit of a troubled background.”
Jemma’s dad, Jason Donovan, is also known for starring in Neighbours in the ’80s, playing character Scott Robinson.
Her grandad Terence Donovan – who is Jason’s father – also appeared on Neighbours, playing Doug Willis between 1990-2016.
Jemma admitted she was “loving” her new role, telling Lorraine: “I’m having the best time.”
She also said dad Jason has been a “great support” for her, saying: “He’s so happy.
“He cried when he found out I’d got the role.”
Jemma is making her debut on Neighbours later this month on July 15.
It is not known how long she’ll be on the show for at the moment.
Neighbours airs daily on Channel 5 at 1:4pm, with the episode repeated at 5:30pm.
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 8:30am.
