Love Island final’s Caroline Flack montage tribute leaves fans in tears

Love Island fans were left in tears tonight as the final paid tribute to host Caroline Flack with a montage this evening.

Presenter Laura Whitmore, 34, became choked up as she spoke about her late friend during tonight's final.

Host Caroline tragically died on Saturday February 15 at the age of 40 and emotional host Laura announced that the final would be dedicated to her this evening.

The Islanders were told of the awful news yesterday by ITV bosses, who had previously decided to keep it from them.

They were told off-air and the footage will never be screened.

Ahead of the montage, presenter Laura Whitmore said: "Caroline loved Love Island , that's why tonight's final is dedicated to her."

The show then aired a variety of clips from Caroline's time on the show, which left fans in tears as they praised the touching tribute.

Former Love Island star Chris Hughes wrote: "Caroline missed everyday. Great tribute. Very touching, sure she’s watching from up there ❤️ #LoveIsland."

While another commented: "Wow. What a beautiful but emotional tribute to Caroline. Truly the heart of love island. Beautiful soul with the most infectious laugh #loveisland."

A third emotional viewer tweeted: "What a amazing tribute to Caroline Flack.. honestly the show will never be the same. #LoveIsland."

"To hear her infectious laugh one more time on the show she loved so much was lovely. A fitting tribute to Caroline Flack which of course made me blub like a baby. #LoveIsland," another wrote.

Earlier this week, the Love Island team paid tribute during the first episode that aired following her death.

The programme began with footage of the cliffs and sea as narrator Iain said: "We are all absolutely devastated by the news that Caroline has passed away.

"Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this dreadful time.

"Caroline and me were together from the start of Love Island, and her passion, warmth, and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers.

"Like many of you, right now we're all just trying to come to terms with what has happened.

"My only hope is that we are try and be kinder, always show love, and listen to one another.

"Caroline, I want to thank you for all the times we had making this show.

"You were a true friend to me.

"I'm gonna miss you, Caz."
