Love Island runner-up Tommy Fury’s cousin is fighting for life in intensive care after being stabbed – The Sun

LOVE Island runner-up Tommy Fury will today learn that his cousin was left fighting for life after being stabbed.

Peter Fury Jnr, 28, suffered serious wounds on a night out boozing with pals. He was rushed to hospital last weekend, underwent a major operation and was put in intensive care.

It is believed that boxer Tommy, 20 was not being given the shock news until after the ITV2 series had ended, where he came second with girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague to winner Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea

Peter Jnr — also a cousin of boxing star Tyson Fury — had been in the bar where footballer Wayne Rooney met Laura Simpson, which ended up in his 2017 arrest for drink-driving.

He and another man were followed out of The Bubble Room in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, and a fight broke out nearby. Paramedics were called around 12.20am on Sunday. A man, 30, and a 25-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault and later bailed.

The victim’s dad Peter Snr, 51 told The Sun yesterday: “He is lucky to be alive. He went through a four-hour operation. There were stab wounds all down the right side of his body, on his chest and arm and in the middle of his abdomen.

“Peter was lucky in that no vital organs were damaged. As I understand it they had an altercation inside the club and went outside for a fight.  It was a total shock when I learned what had happened. I am a family man.

“You don’t expect to find your son fighting for his life. I am really happy to say he is making a good recovery and he is coming out of intensive care today.”

A source said: “Tommy will be devastated. He’s had the time of his life in the villa and hasn’t had contact with the outside world. The family are all so close and this will crush him.”

It was claimed that Peter Jnr had been talking about his tough family background when the trouble broke out. He runs Fury Security which provides protection at events, including boxing, and has boasted that he has more than 300 SAS soldiers working for him.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers found a 28-year-old man had been stabbed twice by two offenders. A second man, 28, was also stabbed. He had left the scene and taken himself to hospital.

“His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.  Two people from Derby were subsequently arrested.” Wounded Peter Jnr ran back to the bar for help and staff attended to him outside until paramedics arrived.

A Bubble Room spokeswoman said: “We’d like to make a special mention to our team who had to deal with a serious situation. A man approached our doors asking for help as he had been seriously injured up the road.  Our team helped see to him and call an ambulance.”

The family suffered heartbreak five years ago when Peter Jnr’s uncle Hughie Fury, 50, died of a blood clot that formed after he broke his leg moving a caravan in Manchester.

In last night’s Love Island finale, the girls left the villa to go dress shopping while the boys tried on tuxedos for the summer ball. It saw the islanders prepare for romantic twirls with a dance class that Tommy had trouble with, quipping: “I’m just a brick!”.

They also penned love speeches to each other, with Curtis Pritchard, 23, telling Maura Higgins, 28: “The goal was to find a princess. This princess wasn’t just any princess, she was the most beautiful princess in all the land.”

But Greg O’Shea, 24, and Amber Gill, 21, were the cheesiest pair. His poem began: “I’m going to keep this short and sweet, just like when we first came to meet.”

It resulted in a romantic co-ordinated dance on the deck of the villa before the results came in.
