The drama is set to continue on tonight's episode of Love Island as viewers are set to see rugby player Jacques O'Neill drop an awkward bombshell about his ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen to her new partner, Luca Bish.
Jacques, 23, and Michael Owen's 19 year old daughter Gemma dated for eight months from around summertime in 2020.
Gemma got a huge shock when Jacques entered the villa as one of the new bombshells, and whilst it was awkward at first, the pair seem to have put their previous relationship aside, as Gemma is coupled up with Luca, 23, and Jacques is quickly falling for Paige Thorne, 24.
Discussing the difference in his feelings for Paige compared to when he was with Gemma, Jacques spoke to none other than his ex-girlfriend's partner Luca, dropping a bit of awkward information about his ex.
Jacques said: “I’d much rather be with Paige than Gem. Like 1000 per cent. Like I could literally go out with Paige, be myself and the next day wake up and have no issues, at all. Even if I’d said something wrong, or anything. But if I did that with Gem I’ve got questions to answer the next day.”
It's not the first time that Jacques has dropped a bombshell on Luca, after last night's episode saw Dami Hope attempt to "read Gemma's mind" and predict where her head's at and he said that she would still be "open" to the prospect of getting to know someone else in the villa that was "100 per cent her".
Dami said: “You’re happy with Luca right now. I feel like it would take a lot for your head to turn but there is a small chance that it probably could if someone really came in that was 100 per cent you.
"I feel like that is where the confusion would probably come for you because we’re not here to play games. I feel like you’re still open in a sense, probably more open than Luca."
Gemma admitted: “Yeah, that was quite impressive. I don’t think you’re that far wrong.”
Things took a dramatic turn after Ekin-Su, 27, let slip the conversation to Jacques and Paige who, in turn, told Luca.
Despite Ekin-Su insisting "don't say anything", Jacques said: "No, I’m going to have his back, mate. He’s going to be hurt, I’m telling you now. F**king hell."
After he relayed the information to a gutted Luca, Jacques said: "Have you not [heard], were you not there? Oh f**k, so you haven't heard about anything? Oh f**k, I thought you already knew!"
But this prompted the show's fans to call Jacques out for "lying" after it was obvious that Jacques knew Luca didn't already know, from his conversation with Ekin-Su.
