The fallout from the death of Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) continues in coming Emmerdale episodes, and an unexpected casualty is Matty (Ash Palmisciano) and Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson)’s relationship.
When Amy and Moira (Natalie J. Robb) left for Belfast with the two boys, they kept Matty in the dark about the real reason for them going – that they were protecting Kyle (Huey Quinn), who was the one who shot Al.
It wasn’t long before Matty discovered the truth, which he heard from Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb).
‘He’s shocked that everyone has lied to him – his uncle, his girlfriend, his mum. He can’t work out why he wasn’t trusted with the truth,’ Ash Palmisciano explained to us.
Like the rest of the family, Matty’s main concern is to protect Kyle and he calls Amy, telling her he’s ready to help.
So he’s shocked and heartbroken when she returns to the village and tells him their relationship is over, saying that Kyle has to be her priority from now on.
Ash Palmisciano says that Matty is devastated by this.
‘When they come back and she’s so hostile towards him he understands, but he’s absolutely heartbroken because it’s really coming from a place of love.
He wanted to help and she decides to finish it and I think he’s just completely let down,’ he admitted. ‘The fact that they didn’t tell him the truth and then his girlfriend has finished with him…he’s at rock bottom.’
Is this the end for Matty and Amy?
